Natalia & Family

Meal Train® for Natalia & Family

*NEW YEAR, NEW START: Natalia + the kids as well as her mother will be flying back home to B.C. on January 26th and will continue to walk this daily journey of grief, processing and healing. Not only that, but they will be moving from their current townhome into a new home (same neighbourhood) by the end of February. Natalia will be busy packing up their home and making the bittersweet/painful transition of moving her and the kids all whilst going through the ongoing grief as well as this pandemic. There are many hurdles but she is not meant to go at this alone! During their first 2 weeks back they will obviously be in quarantine and helping them with meals + groceries is going to bring significant help and relief to this area of need. The meal train calendar will open up in monthly segments. Please read 'General Instructions' below, for more details! ...

Special Instructions

*IMPORTANT* Because Natalia and Eliana are intolerant to Gluten, all meals require to be made WITH GLUTEN-FREE ingredients. Please also consider meals that can be served with the option of without dairy. If you are someone who is NOT experienced with making meals that are specifically Gluten-free, here's some mindful tips: - Refrain from cross-contamination when preparing your gluten-free meal (i.e. cutting boards, cooking pans, any ingredients that made be cross-contaminated with gluten) - Always look for a Certified Gluten-Free symbol/label on all sauces and ingredients you may choose to use. - Package meals in single-use (freezer friendly) packaging. (Foil dishes, ziplock bags, Tupperware that you don't need back) - Consider meals that are SIMPLE (can be seasoned, flavoured later on) and that can be FROZEN upon arrival (as they might not eat it on the same day its delivered) **NOTE: If you can somehow tape on any instructions for heating the meal, what the meal is, and the date it was made that would be VERY helpful.** Meal Drop-Offs Instructions: You may leave the meal at Nat’s front door (#37), knock/ring the bell so that she knows the meal has arrived -- unless communicated otherwise between yourself and Natalia. Please come to the street access front door on 232nd: Unit #37 13819 232nd Street, Maple Ridge B.C.

Continued Thanks

MW

February 4, 2021 by Marika Witkamp

I just wanted to send a brief e-mail out expressing continued thanks for the meals + gifts that you've poured out to Natalia and her family over this past week and a bit that she's been back. There's still a few days left of quarantine for them and then the continued packing and processing of their home as they make their move. If you're able to sign up for a meal -- whether it's the first or second time -- there's still quite a few days that are without meals. Nat is so incredible appreciative of the love and support she's received so far and is aware of how much she really needs all the help she can get. If you're unable to make a meal and would rather gift money, please feel free to message me and we can arrange that. Thanks so much and continue to stay healthy and safe! Marika...

New Year, New Update!

MW

January 22, 2021 by Marika Witkamp

Hey! If you're receiving this e-mail it's because you generously poured time into supporting Nat + the kids through this meal train back in August. I have an update in regards to Nat's arrival back to B.C. and what the next coming weeks are going to look like for her: Herself, the kids and her mother will be flying back home next week, on January 26th, and will be facing two weeks of quarantining together. Supporting them through the provision of meals is going to continue to be one of the most effective ways we can carry the load with Nat -- especially since they won't be able to leave the house for 14 days. I've opened up the meal train calendar for one month currently, as by the end of February Nat and the kids will actually be moving into a new home (same neighbourhood). So as they are in quarantine, she'll be doing the best she can to pack up their home. Meals, gifts, groceries, gift cards will all be immensely helpful for her and the family as they make this bittersweet transition into a new home. You can head to the calendar now to sign up for meals as you feel inclined! Thank you again for being part of her village, Marika...

UNTIL THE NEW YEAR.

Hey Everybody! I just want to thank you, on behalf of Nat and family, for the meals and efforts you've all contributed over this past month and a bit. As most of you probably already know, Nat and the kids (and Damian) flew to Australia over the weekend and will be there until the end of the year. So, I wanted to put a quick message on here to let you know that I will continue to keep this website open (as there's no expiry to it) and will utilize it again once Nat has returned back to Canada in the New Year. So, the next time you hear from me on here will likely be in 2021! (and hopefully it won't be as crazy of a year...) Thanks again, Marika...
