Special Instructions
After 6 months, Gaby and Mike Grinberg are FINALLY bringing home their beautiful daughter Lana Rose, born prematurely in August at 24-weeks due to severe preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. It's been a LONG journey, and they are both incredibly happy to have their daughter home where she belongs. She is coming home with oxygen and a feeding tube, so mommy and daddy will be very busy tending to her medical needs, while also just enjoying their beautiful little miracle and getting her situated at home. While they would love for you to meet Lana, she is still very delicate and they need to protect her from exposure to germs and potential illness. Her lungs and immune system are compromised from being born so early, and need more time to "catch up." These first few months are critical to be in "isolation," especially in the midsts of cold and flu season. As such, please know that if you're not immediately invited into their home, it's not to be rude, but rather to protect Lana, and also to avoid inadvertently passing along germs (i.e.: if you're sick, or a member of your family was recently ill). If Gaby and Mike DO invite you in, please note the following: you and all members of your family must be healthy; you must remove your shoes; use hand sanitizer and also wash your hands; and PLEASE: look but don't touch (the baby)! Please also know that if you're invited in, you may not always get to see the baby, if she's sleeping. If Lana's sleeping, and Gaby or Mike are home, THEY would love to say hi and give you a hug, but it's best to expect a quick drop off without a visit JUST IN CASE. Also, as a side note: the couple have a dog (Samson), who looks big and scary but is actually sweet and lovable. He will always be the first to the door and will expect some lovin', too. He does not jump or bite, but he does bark and loves people. If you're not a fan of dogs, please make a note, and probably just plan to leave the items in the cooler by the door. Please let Gaby and Mike know in your notes when you select a date what time you think you will stop by, and then text Gaby when you are on your way. Gaby's cell is (612) 940-6454. Gaby will leave a cooler by the door for the meal to be left in case she can't come to the door. For early morning or later evening drop-offs, please just leave the items in the cooler by the door. Please DO NOT knock on the door or ring the doorbell. Thank you for your understanding! And from the Meal Train "Etiquette" list (because it's brilliant), a few other things to keep in mind: - If there are open calendar days after your delivery, make enough for leftovers. Freezable meals are also nice. - Don’t forget the extras like drinks, condiments. No need for salad dressing, as the couple does not use any with their salads. - Feel free to have something delivered (e.g. pizza, sushi, Thai), but if so, make sure to pay and tip in advance. - Be sure to label any items that you would like returned. Include a large paper bag with your name on it that Gaby can use to store your items until you can coordinate a pick-up date. - Better yet, if possible, please bring items over in disposable containers; makes everyone's life easier! - Include clear preparation instructions, (i.e.: Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees). If your food requires cooking time, please drop off ahead of time to have dinner ready by 5:30pm. - Consider sharing a link to your recipe in the "Notes" section of your meal booking so the recipient can know the ingredients. - As a nice added bonus, bring breakfast food for the following morning, such as muffins, bagels, and fruit salad. Gaby would normally send you a thank you note because this means so much to her, but we know there's no way you would want her to do so (she'll have enough to juggle with sweet baby Lana and trying to find time to take a shower!). Just please know that Gaby, Mike and Lana are all really grateful for your support and love!
