Special Instructions
Preparing meals to be used for dinner is a great way to help us serve the guests in our shelters! IMPORTANT: if you or your company/group/church decide to host a meal drive where several meals will be dropped off at once, please email lindsay@hitfoundation.org or call (937) 472-0500 ext. 409 prior to the donation drive, to ensure we have adequate freezer space for meals. We serve three meals a day, 365 days a year. Each meal needs to feed at least 10 adults. Please note: we need casseroles and other items to be delivered to us PRECOOKED. Cooked and then frozen is acceptable. Our shelter has a warming only kitchen. Examples of meals that have been donated are: ham, macaroni and cheese, green beans, spaghetti, soup, turkey, sandwiches, lasagna, lunch meat rollups, etc. It is recommended that the pans be disposable pans (approximately 12x10 or 9x13), sturdy, and have sturdy foil lids. Please label each meal with the name of the dinner, the date made, and the suggested warming instructions. We ask that hair is pulled back or secured in food nets and food-grade gloves be worn during the preparation of the meal. The shelter is staffed 24/7 and is a secure facility. When you are ready, meals can be dropped off directly to the shelter at 2009 State Route 127 North Eaton, Ohio 45320. Please park in the parking lot in front of the shelter. Ring the doorbell for assistance. Call 937-472-0500 ext. 422 if you have questions!
