Meal Train® for Brian's Angels Homeless Outreach Center ~ Bristol, CT

Brian’s Angels helps hundreds of homeless and under served people in Bristol, CT. All of our clients suffer from food insufficiency and to combat this, Brian’s Angels tries to provide a warm lunch four days/week and provides sandwich and snack bags six days/week for an evening meal with food items that have been graciously donated to us. We also supply guests with toiletry kits which include toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, sanitary wipes, deodorant, and more as needed. Our 100% volunteer organization needs YOU! Whether you can volunteer a few hours a month, donate canned goods, clothing, toiletries, or would like to make a monetary donation, we greatly appreciate it! We couldn’t do what we do without the generosity of the greater Bristol, CT community! Learn more about the center by copying this link: https://BriansAngels.org/how-you-can-help . ...

** BIG NEWS! ** Pat is coming back this week!

FK

September 8, 2024 by Francoise Knight of Brian's Angels Homeless Outreach

** BIG NEWS! ** Pat is coming back this week! She has been out for several months following a heart procedure. Let's give her a big warm welcome back! She'll be here just a few days a week until she is ready for her old schedule. Let's make sure her first week back is worry-free. Please sign up to help with sandwiches or a hot meal so Pat won't be stressing about how to feed everyone this week! www.MealTrain.com/trains/1o1d0q Pat is the founder of this project and the beating heart of this group of volunteers. She started just handing out cold bottled water to those in need on a hot Summer day. Now this 100% volunteer center does SO much more for so many people! Folks who visit here can receive a free warm lunch four days a week and a brown paper bag to-go dinner six days a week. While they are here they can be connected to services provided by many other organizations. The Health Dept Nurses stop in to check on people. One volunteer helps get lost/stolen ID cards replaced. The harm reduction van visits regularly. People can get a hot shower here (only one shower and high demand). Pat has helped people get out of state bus tickets so they can reunite with family and start over. Pat tries to get local bus passes so people can get to jobs. She makes sure they can get to a place to wash their clothes. Appropriate clothing for job interviews, as well as free work clothes and boots, are available here. Efforts are made to connect employers with those who can work. And SO much more... It all starts with FOOD! People who are fed and cared for MAKE BETTER DECISIONS! Food = Love! We could all use more Love <3 these days! This non-judgemental kind of care gives folks the time, space and opportunity to focus on their next steps to wellness and community inclusion. SUMMER Volunteer Requests for Brian's Angels - immediate need!

FK

July 6, 2024 by Francoise Knight of Brian's Angels Homeless Outreach

Dear Volunteers, Some of you may have noticed we were supposed to have a cookout today. Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with the person bringing the grill and we couldn't make it happen today! We have all the food here and ready to go if we can find someone to bring two grills Sunday at 12n and cook 40 burgers and 40 dogs in about 1.5 hours! I know that is really short notice! I'd just hate to see all this donated food go to waste! The two requests are on the MealTrain app for Sunday. Feeding 50-70 people every day takes the whole community. We can't do this without YOU! Some of our regular dedicated volunteers will be away on vacation over the next few weeks. We need to meet a few new volunteers to help keep everything going! Now that the kids are on Summer vacation, this is a great community project for them! You just make sandwiches, salads or crockpot meals in your own kitchen and drop everything off at the center on your volunteer day! We have some bulk ingredients that came in from our Amazon Wish List and other donors for our volunteer cooks to pick up at the center! A community that pulls together to help those in need is a happier and safer place for everyone! The center is open from 12n - 3p on Tuesdays - Sundays (closed Mondays)! This is a cooling and feeding center! We need your help to stay open! This center runs 100% on volunteers!!! Even if you don't have the time or resources to help with any of the above requests, you can still be a HUGE help to us by sharing this request to your friends, family, co-workers, community groups, employers, scout packs, church committees, civic groups ... to help us meet more volunteers! Our volunteers and business donors come from Bristol and every surrounding town! If you are signed up to provide food through Meal Train but can not make it on your day, PLEASE give us as much notice as possible so we can rally other volunteers to cover for you! There is a big fundraising concert coming up! Follow our FB page for details. Many thanks whether you volunteer once a week, once a month or even just once each year. Every volunteer makes a difference here! Franci (writing for Pat) ....
