Special Instructions
Preparing meals for dinner is a wonderful way to support the guests in our shelter. We serve three meals a day, 365 days a year, ensuring those in need receive nourishing food. Each meal should be prepared to serve at least 10 adults—or 15 adults from November through March, when we accommodate additional guests for Cold Shelter. Important Information for Meal Donations: Meal Drives: If your company, group, or church plans a meal drive with multiple meal donations at once, please contact us beforehand at Lindsay@hitfoundation.org or call (937) 472-0500 ext. 409 to confirm we have enough freezer space. Meal Preparation: All meals must be pre-cooked before delivery. Cooked and frozen meals are also acceptable, as our shelter kitchen is for warming only. Examples of Meals: Ham, macaroni and cheese, green beans, spaghetti, soup, turkey, sandwiches, lasagna, and lunch meat rollups are all great options. Packaging: Meals should be in sturdy, disposable pans (approx. 12x10 or 9x13) with secure foil lids. The shelter provides serving utensils and dinnerware. Labeling: Clearly label each meal with: Name of the dish Date it was prepared Suggested warming instructions Food Safety: When preparing meals, please pull back or secure hair and wear food-grade gloves. Meal Drop-Off Details: Location: Home Is The Foundation Shelter, 2009 State Route 127 North, Eaton, Ohio 45320 Drop-off Procedure: The shelter is staffed 24/7 for secure drop-offs. Please park in the lot in front of the shelter and ring the doorbell for assistance. For any questions, call (937) 472-0500 ext. 422. Your generosity helps ensure our shelter guests receive warm, nourishing meals—thank you for your support!
